I heard the lonely Bansid, cry

Calling ocean mist across the sky

I know in the ocean he will die,

When the wind begins to cry

And the moon to lie.

Oh darling, I cry for you,

On the cliffs I wretch…..

Oh darling, come home soon

So I join her wail,

Calling to the soul

Soon to be kept by the water

And I wonder if she knows,

What loss is.

I heard the lonely Bansid, cry

Calling ocean mist across the sky

I know in the ocean he will die,

When the wind begins to cry

And the moon to lie.

Oh darling, you are drowning,

In the fury of the sea,

Oh darling, I love you,

So I'll follow thee,

Throwing my heart to the sea,

Soon to be kept by the water,

And I wonder if she knows,

What loss is…

I heard the lonely Bansid, cry

Calling ocean mist across the sky

I know in the ocean he will die,

When the wind begins to cry

And the moon to lie.

In dark death, pain is lost,

To the horror of the sea,

Oh darling, I will echo,

In the crash of the waves

Damned love,

Forsaken,

By the damn bansid…..

And I wonder if she knows,

What loss is……….

I wrote this some years ago. I actually recorded it very very poorly set to music at one point. It is the tragic tale of a woman on the cliffs watching for her husband in a time when superstition was rampant and women's futures and lives were completely limited to the accomplishments of their men and what those men allowed and provided to them. This is a tragedy of epic proportions for the woman telling the tale. I am a musician, and i was trying to figure out the sound of life being ripped away of everything being ripped away, of a tragedy happening before your eyes... What does that moment sound like? What is the scream in that instant that the heart makes? And this was what i came up with.
